Firefighters were recently called to a home where a kitten was stuck inside the wall of a Britain home.
In a Facebook post from the Tyne and War Fire and Rescue Service, firefighters of Red Watch at Wallsend Community Fire Station responded to a plea for help on rescuing an 8-week-old kitten. The small animal found itself lost inside the bathroom wall of its new home. They also shared pictures of the owner with her kitten and a firefighter holding it after it was rescued.
When Danielle Douglas, 22, realized her new pet was missing at the early hours of the morning, she quickly called the fire department to explain what happened. The kitten was new to the home as Douglas got it hours earlier.
According to American Humane, 10 million pets go missing each year in the United States.
Douglas searched the internet for cat noises to play throughout the house in order to find the kitten. She heard the meowing of her pet in the bathroom.
"I was beside myself with worry as I thought that the kitten would be petrified as he was just getting used to his new surroundings," she said. "One minute I was watching him curled up asleep on the floor, the next moment he'd disappeared in to thin air!"
Douglas explained that the firefighters were good at talking her though the rescue procedure.
Firefighters found out the kitten—now named Tubs—after the incident who had found its way into the bathroom wall through a hole near the toilet. After they discarded some tiles and plasterboard, the kitten was returned to its rightful owner.
Douglas was very grateful for the firefighters.
"They were really gentle with Tubs and made sure that we were both okay before they left," she said. "They even did a safe and well-check on my smoke alarms on their way out!"
She continued: "We are just glad that little Tubs is safely back in the arms of his owner," the rescue concluded their post. Many praised the hard work in the comment section.
"Aww well done Red Watch. Little fur baby looks quite content being cuddled by the kitty loving firefighter," Anne wrote.
Jen said, "Well done for a purrfect rescue."
"Great job Red Watch. Pleased there was such a happy ending," Sue added.
"Love the new name!! What a lovely story, great work," Lyndsey said.
Douglas also commented, thanking them once again and that Tubs is "happy and healthy."
