Selena Gomez released her album Rare on Friday, and fans are guessing which songs could be about her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.
Gomez and Bieber dated on and off from 2010, officially ending things in March 2018. Bieber began dating Hailey Baldwin soon after, and the couple married in September 2018.
Fans think that certain songs on Gomez's new album refer to her relationship with Justin, including "People You Know," "Lose You to Love Me," and "Cut You Off." Gomez fans also acknowledged that her album dropped days after Bieber released his new single "Yummy," a song about his wife.
Twitter user @tayonnaise_ said: "Justin Bieber releasing Y*mmy then Selena releasing Rare which can only be described as a masterpiece... revenge is sweet."
But which songs on the album are about Bieber?
"Lose You To Love Me" lyrics
Fans have speculated that "Lose You To Love Me" was about Justin, as Gomez sings, "In two months you replaced us / Like it was easy," possibly referencing how quickly Bieber began dating Baldwin after breaking up with Gomez.
According to Twitter user @haileycherone, a radio station played Gomez and Bieber's songs back to back, perhaps referencing how they are singing about each other: "these radio stations are so bold for playing 'let me love you' by Justin Bieber right after playing 'lose you to love me' by Selena Gomez."
User @muuulaa said: "nothing annoys me more than the radio putting Selena's Lose You To Love Me and Justin's Sorry together." Someone has even mashed up "Sorry" and "Lose You To Love Me" to create a duet about two different perspectives on a relationship.
"Cut You Off" lyrics
In "Cut You Off," Gomez sings about letting go of the past: "Pull up to the mirror, staring at my face / Gotta chop-chop all the extra weight / I've beencarryingfor fourteen-hundred-sixty days / Gotta, gotta, gotta clean my slate."
Fans have calculated that 1,460 days (which equals four years) is around the amount of time Gomez and Bieber were actually together during their on-off relationship which spanned eight years.
Twitter user @tianasfenty tweeted lyrics, "I've beencarryingit for fourteen-hundredand sixty days?" and "how could I confuse that s**t for love?" They wrote: "Jelena = lasted 4 years / 1460 days = 4 years," along with a video of a woman saying "payback."
"People You Know" lyrics
In "People You Know," Gomez sings about how a relationship can change from being close to someone to not knowing them at all. She sings: "We used to be close, but people can go / From people you know to people you don't / And what hurts the most is people can go / From people you know to people you don't."
Fans think that "People You Know" could also be about Justin, with Twitter user @jonasxxiv tweeted: "Selena Gomez's People You Know is a big slap to Justin lmfao."
Rare by Selena Gomez is available to purchase and stream on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Deezer, iTunes, Google Play, Tidal, and Selena Gomez's official store.
